A pallet converter (also called a pile turner) is a machine that is used to reverse pallets while they are still loaded with the product. Depending on the machine, the pallets can be rotated up to 180 degrees. A fixed bottom frame contains a rotating frame having a clamping mechanism. The clamp works hydraulically and the rotation is driven by an electric motor. The loaded pallet is placed in the machine via a forklift and then inverted. A new replacement pallet is then placed on top, up and down. The forklift truck is then pulled in, and the operator can start the inversion process with a simple push of a button. After inversion, the damaged palette can be discarded, and then the palette can be returned.
There are many reasons for having to change a full pallet. The most common cause is the need to pick up and replace a broken or inadequate pallet, without having to unpack the entire load. Sometimes, products must also be transferred from pallets to freight pallets and vice versa. Sometimes a load of goods can be shifted, and a pallet converter makes it possible to raise the load. They are helpful for the food industry, as wooden pallets can be replaced for cleaner plastic or steel pallets. In addition, certain goods must be inverted to prevent residence.
Pallet converter saves time and money. Unloading and loading pallets is time consuming and expensive. Without a pallet converter, a company has to pay its workforce to transfer the goods from pallet to pallet. This links up the workers and also puts them at risk of injury. The dual handling of the product also increases the risk of injury. A pallet converter can be a stand-alone machine, but it can also be incorporated into a mounting line to help with a pallet inversion and transfer system. Purchasing this type of machine can be a wise investment for all companies that have to accept and deliver goods on pallets.
Even sensitive goods can be inverted safely, as long as the load is placed correctly in the machine. Most pallet inverters can handle a wide range of goods and products, which means that it has few restrictions. If the packaging material is weak, however, the load can still be unpacked and repackaged by hand. These machines are large, so a company needs to have dedicated floor space to accommodate it. Some types of pallets may not be suitable for inversion: for example, those with irregular peaks or sides. If there is a high volume of pallets to be turned over, an entire cycle time of 25 to 40 seconds must be considered.
